Awaken: A Tibetan Buddhist Journey Toward Enlightenment

With Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche

Khenpo Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche joins exhibition curator Dr. Jeffrey Durham in conversation to explore artworks on view in Awaken: A Tibetan Buddhist Journey Toward Enlightenment. They will reveal some of the ingenious methods that Tibetan Buddhist artists and teachers have used to guide the course of awareness for over a thousand years and the deeply meditative context in which and for which much of the art in Awaken was intended.

Jamyong Singye, a master thangka painter, will be on hand to demonstrate his techniques of grinding precious minerals down to make paint and answer your questions.
