In this 3-Day Summer Meditation Retreat, Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche will guide us in The 5 Dakinis of Green Tara meditation practice and will share Dakinis teachings from Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava.

As part of the Summer Retreat, Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche will bestow the empowerment of The 5 Dakinis of Green Tara.

The 5 Dakinis of Green Tara Empowerment

As part of the summer meditation retreat this year, we are very pleased to announce that Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche will be bestowing the empowerment for this 5 Dakinis of Green Tara meditation practice from Lerab Lingpa at the start of the retreat.

The empowerment will be held during the first session of the retreat between 10am – 12pm Pacific Time on Friday July 19th. To receive the empowerment, participants must attend either in-person or watch the online live stream as the empowerment airs.

Receiving the empowerment is recommended for all participants, however it is not required in order to participate in the retreat or to do the practice. Rinpoche has explained that receiving the empowerment enhances your Green Tara practice so that it becomes more powerful. If you have the right perspective, receiving the empowerment allows Tara’s energy into your life.

About the Teachings and Practice

Approximately 900 years ago, the great treasure revealer Nyang Ral Nyima Ozer revealed a treasure teaching (terma) of a profound discussion between Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava and Dakini Yeshe Tsogyal. These special Dakini teachings provide instructions and powerful guidance from Dakini Yeshe Tsogyal and Guru Rinpoche on how to reach enlightenment and transform our lives in an extraordinary way. They help us navigate our way to enlightenment and increase enlightened experiences.

Tara is a manifestation from ultimate reality, an enlightened being in female form. She embodies all Buddhas, bodhisattvas, and enlightened beings, and all enlightened qualities are perfectly complete within her. She provides us with a fearless mind, removes obstacles, and clears mental and emotional pollution.

Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche translated The 5 Dakinis of Green Tara meditation manual we will use in this retreat from the treasure teachings of the great treasure revealer Lerab Lingpa.

You may purchase a physical copy of the Green Tara meditation practice manual on our online shop here. A PDF of the manual will be sent to all participants prior to the start of the retreat.

Important Notes:

  • This practice includes visualization and mantra recitation. There are no prerequisites and no background is necessary so anyone interested in this type of meditation practice is welcome to attend.
  • It is not required to receive the empowerment, but it is recommended. Rinpoche explained that if participants have received any Tara Vajrayana empowerment in the past, this is also beneficial.
  • To receive the empowerment bestowed in this retreat, participants must attend either in-person or watch the online live stream as the empowerment airs. The on-demand recordings will not contain the empowerment.

Live Stream and Recording:

  • The Retreat will be live-streamed on Zoom. Please note that since you will receive the live stream link immediately upon registration, we are not able to offer refunds for this program.
  • On-demand recordings will be available for all participants approximately one week after the retreat. The recordings will be available for 3 months.

In-Person Attendees:

  • This is a commuter retreat. If you’re coming from out of town and need local accommodations, here are several hotels within a 20 minute driving distance of the retreat:
  • Please bring your lunch each day as there will not be time to leave during the lunch break. There will be plenty of refrigerator space and a microwave available for your use. We also recommend bringing a bottle or thermos of water if you wish.
  • We ask that anyone who is not feeling well or has any recent symptoms of illness prior to the event – or who has been in close contact with anyone who does – not attend in-person. If you are no longer able to attend in-person, please let us know by emailing us at [email protected] and we will be happy to assist you in getting set up to attend remotely via the live stream. Please let us know as far in advance as possible so that we may offer your seat to someone else.

Additional Notes:

  • If you have a different time zone, you may convert the time to your local time here.
